  • Next Market March 6th 10.30 – 2.30pm

Imagine next Sunday March 6th to be a beautiful early spring day…there is no wind, no rain (I can dream!) and I have 2 very large shopping bags that can fit 51 items in. This is my personal shopping bag / Heaton Moor market supermarket sweep daydream…

I would choose a plant from https://www.pargardens.co.uk/ my favourite pie from http://www.allaboutpies.co.uk/ to go alongside samosas from http://www.alams.co.uk/ and fat olives from https://www.facebook.com/delishshops/.

I need a present for my friend. I should find something beautiful here https://vintagelovebytrine.co.uk/ or maybe a candle https://www.scentsandsolace.co.uk/ or a cushion https://www.kitschrepublic.co.uk/ or commision a painting! https://kate-obrien-art.myshopify.com/

My stomach is rumbling and more specifically rumbling for cake and dessert – yum! https://www.thebrownieowl.co.uk/ & https://marmalady.co.uk/ & https://www.facebook.com/RosiaBakery/ and https://www.sicilianbites.co.uk/ or https://www.sticky-toffee-jo.com/

OK, focus…I need cheese https://www.facebook.com/justgratecheese/ and chutney https://www.fatjax.com/ and fresh bread https://www.facebook.com/artisaneLiverpool/ with some zhoug to heat things up https://www.instagram.com/delionthego_/?hl=en and hot sauce https://worldfamoushotsauce.co.uk/ to accompany my scotch egg https://www.facebook.com/ssseuk/

Making excellent progress here. What next? Drinks! Start with a barista coffee to fortify me on my shopping spree https://www.extremecoffee.co.uk/ with loose tea to take home https://tigerteaco.co.uk/ and a bag of coffee beans https://www.bspokecoffeehouse.co.uk/ But we’ll need a nice bottle of Italian wine for later https://vinobuono.co.uk/ with a gin and tonic for an aperitif (obvs!) https://www.moorhengin.com/

Talk of wine has put me in mind of sorting out my evening meal, next stop https://www.cheadlefarm.co.uk/ and https://www.facebook.com/Haycroftmeadow/ for meat, https://greekoliveoildirect.com/ for olive oil and home grown mushrooms. Then on to peruse a choice of sauce from https://africa-als.co.uk/

My nephew’s birthday is on the horizon, I’m sure to find something with https://www.borntobewildchild.com/ or maybe from https://www.instagram.com/themoonandthebee/ along with a handmade toy https://www.facebook.com/crochetboutiqueuk/ and a card from https://www.flamingopaperie.co.uk/web/heatherthorpe

Never forgetting to treat myself! https://www.kalawalshceramics.co.uk/ maybe signing up for one of her courses and talking of courses, I love pasta…https://www.nonnateresa.co.uk/

I lost one of my favourite earrings the other day, therefore essential shopping is buying a replacement pair because, well, just because…https://www.beautifullyboho.co.uk/ and https://www.facebook.com/thecraftcroft/ Oooh just noticed handmade notebooks https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/EtLibri and a bag for my sister https://www.wildatheart.online/bags

My bags are getting heavy now, shopping is not for the fainthearted! It’s a good bicep workout carrying shopping and to prove it I shall buy a granite set of coasters from https://www.chiselledfeatures.co.uk/ then gently nudge a handpainted bottle in next to them from Mary at Daisy Designs and in a seperate bag, as I cannot resist, a print from https://audrinka.art/

Quick stop and sniff at https://www.rootsveganskincare.co.uk/ for a new shampoo bar and it is most definitely time for an ice-cream https://www.exclusivescoop.co.uk/ where the hardest decision is ‘which flavour?’

Last but not least, time for a sit down and bite to eat. Now then…https://www.thecheshirebakehouse.co.uk/ or truffle fries from https://www.artisam.co.uk/ or maybe both? Or pizza https://www.facebook.com/CrescentCateri1/

Time to retreat, eat, have a cup of tea and admire my purchases in the gardens of https://www.stpaulsheatonmoor.org.uk/ where they offer ‘Tea in the Garden’ or go and admire the amazing array of dogs meandering through https://www.heatonmoorpark.co.uk/ Which reminds me, I need a new dog lead, good job https://www.barkleyandfetch.co.uk/ are at the market and I could treat him to a pup cake (my dog is 15…) https://www.thedogcakeco.com/, I think I need to go back…..and wait a minute, I think I missed supporting the table raising money for The Scouts Jamboree. That’s it then, I definitely need to go back and there may be more than 51 items in these bags…..

  • HEATON MERSEY ARTISAN MARKET & MORE!

Saturday November 20th heralds the latest pop-up market on the cobbles of St John’s Place SK4 4BR just in front of St John the Baptist Church. Such a pretty spot in the heart of Heaton Mersey.

The stalls below will all be up and running from 11-3pm with community and charity stalls in the church too.

But…best of all, Santa is coming! At 11.45am (ish) he is coming through the market to say hello to everyone before retiring to his grotto in The Heaton – access to the grotto through the carpark at the back of The Heaton, just follow your nose through the market (literally as there will be hotfood on offer outside at the back of The Heaton too) Santa will be available for all visitors between 12-2pm.

For children we also have a roundabout / funfair ride and a Hook a Duck stall.

So, expect to hear ukeleles, to smell fresh pizza being made, to admire fine handmade products, to look nostalgically upon the roundabout and Hook a Duck, pop into the church for a look around, a mooch through the stalls, quick cup of tea and out again to play some games with the Stella Maris team, then off to see Santa followed by a well deserved rest and sit down with a drink at The Heaton.
